The Expo has attracted some of the most prominent companies of this field, both from Bahrain and abroad.

Bahrain, 14th June 2009: CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq – platinum sponsors of the Energy and Water Conservation Expo 2009 - Mr. Aaref Hejres said at the opening ceremony of the event held yesterday (Monday, June 15th) that Diyar’s sponsorship is an extension of the company’s deep rooted commitment to providing a better lifestyle for all strata of Bahrain society and directly supporting all community building activities.

He went on to say that the Expo touches on some of the most pressing issues of the day which touch everyone’s lives with the movement towards conservation of natural resources and sustainability have risen to prominence on the agenda of decision makers and nations around the world, especially developing countries such as Bahrain, and the resulting strain this puts on resources which, if not addressed, can slow down economic development significantly.

Hejres pointed out that Diyar Al Muharraq had considered these fundamental issues from the very outset, conducting thorough studies and collaborating with renowned local and global engineering consultancies to put forth long-term plans to guarantee the readiness of the master-planned city’s various facilities and inhabitants, estimated at over 120,000 people – more than 10% the current population of Bahrain.

The conference, which runs from the 15-17th June 2009 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre under the patronage of H.E Eng. Fahmi bin Ali Al Jowder, Minister of Works and Minister in charge of Electricity and Water Authority, is organized by the Ministry of Works and Bahrain Society of Engineers, aims at creating awareness on the significance of electricity and water conservation to the public.

Diyar Al Muharraq, which recently won the prestigious British Expertise Awards for its industry leading initiatives in land reclamation and environmental protection, will offer its inhabitants a cohesive mix of residential and commercial properties designed to cater to the varying needs and tastes of all levels of the community.

The Water and Energy Conservation Expo 2009 will focus on the important role modern technology plays in conserving energy and water by highlighting the benefits of using high-efficiency appliances, in addition to energy management and special heat resistant materials in buildings and eco-friendly design.
